about the blog
what is a blog you say? well its sort of an "online diary" type thing where you can post up stuff that everyone can read... its an easy way for others to know what you're upto.. without them having to ask....
please note, my blog is not an exposition of my talents as a writer, and is (slightly purposely) written more in a "stream of consciousness" style than anything (that means very lax observation of grammatical rules of punctuation).
the most recent posts are at the top, so the correct way to read the blog is from the bottom up (this makes it more practical for people who read it often). anyhooze, enjoy!

- direct links:
- a couple of things you might not find obvious about using the blog is that each post (since around 2008) has something called a "direct link" which means that if there is a specific post that you want to have your friends read, but dont want to tell them "scroll down to about the part that says..." then you can just right click on the "#" sign next to the time stamp of that post, and it will allow you to "copy link location" which you can then post into an email or your social networking account, etc. This link address is a direct link to exactly that post.. even after it is archived or moved!! so you are guaranteed that the link will always work, no matter what crazy organizational stuff changes with the blog. in the above example the link location is "http://insaner.com/blog/go/?20110117120645", so thats what you would send your friends
- tags:
- next to where it says "tags:" theres a list of tags that the given post has been tagged with. you can click on any one of these tags to go directly to the list of posts that have that same tag. so, in the above example, clicking "announcements" will take you to all posts that are general announcements about the site, etc..
you can always of course just go to the main tags list (the link is on the main menu to your left, below where it says "blog" in big letters) and go through the tags to see all the different tags and the posts tagged with these. perhaps in the future i will implement a tag cross-referencer where you can look up all posts that match different tags, but for now, this is what i offer
- blog archives:
- the blog is conveniently archived by months and years, and all blog pages will include a menu such as the one below. clicking on any of the numbers will expand the list of months of the blog for that year of posts, and clicking on any of the short form month names will take you to that month of posts. clicking on the "current blog" link, will always take you to the main blog file
