i like this quote:
Jewish law [...] rejects the view that homosexuality is to be regarded merely as a disease or as morally neutral.... Jewish law holds that no hedonistic ethic, even if called "love", can justify the morality of homosexuality any more than it can legitimize adultery or incest, however genuinely such acts may be performed out of love and by mutual consent.

what if Jesus had never been born? and heres an interesting quote from that link:
All but one of the first 123 colleges in colonial America were Christian institutions. While these universities have lost their Christian identities, it is interesting to read the founding statements of these schools. Harvard, for example, was founded on this statement:
"Let every student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the maine end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternall life, John 17:3"
wow.. harvard.. man.

this is mostly for me so i dont forget.. but here is a quote with verses giving proof of Jesus being God:
Jesus was not content to be labeled just another prophet but demanded recognition as deity (Matthew 16:13ff), and even accepted worship (see Luke 24:52; John 9:38). Jesus saw His death as an atoning sacrifice for the sins of all humanity (Matthew 26:28) and predicted His resurrection from the dead as the ultimate sign that He is God’s Son (John 2:18-21; Matt. 12:39-40; Luke 11:32

wow..
Adolph Hitler once said: "The receptive ability of the great masses is only very limited, their understanding is small; on the other hand their forgetfulness is great. This being so, all effective propaganda should be limited to a very few points which in turn, should be used as slogans until the very last man is able to imagine what is meant by such words." Today's slogans are: "a woman's right to choose" and "freedom of choice," et cetera.
read about Gianna Jessen's testimony.. where she tells about being aborted at 7 months! and.. surviving!!! (more on live (partial birth) abortions ) and a page about women who used to be pro-choice

a general set of questions that you can ask a muslim (if you are a muslim, then ask yourself these questions..).
i especially like these:
What is the greatest act of love performed by Allah?
Why do you, as a Muslim, want me to give up such a great love performed by God Himself (from a Christian perspective) for your belief in Allah who only loves people if they are Muslims?
If Allah does not love unbelievers, can you say that Allah is love, especially if the Qur'an does not say it?
If you say yes, that Allah is love, then why does he only love the Muslims and not all people?
Are you doing enough good deeds to receive salvation on the Day of Judgment?
Why should we Christians give up our guarantee of salvation in Jesus for the requirements of your Qur'anic law when you yourselves don't even know if you have done enough good deeds to be saved on the Day of Judgment?

[6:47:26]
holey crap.. after a long night of research on a variety of subjects... i ran into this post somewhere:
First off HUMAN milk for infants is very good and very necessary. Studies have shown that breastfeeding till 2 years gives babies better IQ, immune systems, social behaviour etc BUT and this is a very big BUT, around the age of 3 the body stops producing lactase (helps digest lactose) and rennin ('curdles' milk to make it more easily digested) which means that after this age, humans (and other animals for that matter) cannot digest milk properly.
It is common 'knowledge' that milk is good for your bones - you've probably heard that from the government, the dairy industry, on tv, your teacher, from your Mum etc but new research has found that in actual fact, milk CAUSES osteoporosis rather than preventing it. But how is this possible you ask when milk is so high in calcium? The reason being that 1. The calcium in milk isn't easily absorbed by the body and 2. because milk is so difficult to digest it causes indigestion (even if you don't feel it) and the body draws calcium out of the bones to deposit into your stomach to help neutralise the acid. The more milk consumed by a country, the higher the rate of osteoporosis - proven statistic. In countries where milk consumption is very low, osteoporosis is virtually non-existant.
That of course is just one problem. Casein, the protein in milk, is also very allergenic causing people to be more susceptible to allergies and asthma etc. It has also been linked to some forms of cancer and other diseases but they are somehwat more tentative at this point in time. If you would like to read more you can go to a site called NotMilk.com. Though they do tend to be a little zealous. After reading what I have, my family is now going dairy free and I am hoping that my daughter's severe eczema will go away (my son is badly affected by milk too and I must minimise the dairy I eat otherwise the small amounts of it that get into my milk - I breastfeed - give him bad reflux and eczema). Got milk?
ive known for a while that milk isnt good for you.. but now, after reading a few things here and there, expecially in regards to milk protein casein, i am now inclined to cease most if not all of my milk consumption.. you know those little white spots on your fingernails?? i only get those when i drink milk or eat cheese (or any other milk derivative).. have you noticed that too? yeah..
also, some more research showed that increased milk consumption led to higher incidence of asthma!! (by the way, its true that the site mentioned above is pretty extreme.. still, the facts are unescapable.. )
hmm you know what? i just realized that in the last few years that ive been living here.. on my own.. not being able to afford milk or cheese, have also been the years where i have been most healthy?? its true! i have been sick, i think once or twice the whole 3 years ive been living here.. and it only lasted about a week both times! hey, bob, remember in that other country where i used to live and goto school with you, remember how i was constantly sick??? well, i used to drink milk every day there! i cant really ignore the connection.. man, this night has been soo enlightening on soo many fronts..
[6:04:28]
ok guys, i just spent about an hour looking at slideshow after slideshow here.. but i have to warn you, a lot of it is really graphic.. this is what can be called a "highlight" of islam in pictures..[CAUTION!!! very very graphic content! not for the faint of heart!] this kind of example saddens me deeply to know that this kind of thing exists.. ugh.. seriously.. me heart is heavy
[5:15:51]
Buridan's ass.. not really what youre thinking.. haha
Buridan's ass is the common name for the paradox which states that an entirely rational ass, placed exactly in the middle between two stacks of hay of equal size and quality, will starve since it cannot make any rational decision to start eating one rather than the other.
sometimes, if you are trying to make a "rational decision" you will just end up starving.. very interesting...
[4:36:56]
and because a string of long posts would not be complete without my bashing of islam.. heres an explanation as to why some verses in the quran say "love christians/jews" while others say "slay them wherever ye find them".. its really quite interesting and not too biased either..
[3:51:59]
you know what? in all the research ive been doing for that post below, i realized one thing..
"all the knowledge in the world can be expressed with 'yes' and 'no'"
this is an extrapolation of galileo galilei's view that
(from the same Occam's Razor page)
[...] if you really wanted to start from a small number of entities, you could always consider the letters of the alphabet as the fundamental entities, since you could certainly construct the whole of human knowledge out of them [...]
which basically means, that since the alphabet can be portrayed in binary form itself (1 or 0, true or false, yes or no...) then, all the information/knowledge in the world can be represented in that way! why is this very obvious statement (since thats exactly what computers do..) such a "blog-able" thing? because, it means we can begin to think of things as binary.. light vs darkness, truth vs lies.. ie, either something is true.. or it is not.. hmm.. this is a lot more developable.. but ill leave it at that..
[3:10:40]
i like this quote (from the dna page)
"What a mutation cannot do is change all the instructions in one step—say, [providing instructions] to build a fax machine instead of a radio"
[1:00:38]
here, if youve never heard of Ernst Haeckel, or his infamous faked drawings used by early darwinists/evolutionists as proof and support for the theory of evolution.. and the fact that for some reason, they are still found in textbooks.. even after being recognized by biologists (even evolutionists) as being faked!
also, read about one professor of biochemistry who started off as an evolutionist, and after his own research, realized just how wrong the theory is.. explaining cell processes as "irreducibly complex" (wow, this is a really good article! read the whole thing!):
We learned the cell is not a simple blob of jelly. It has these molecular machines in it. It has a sophisticated mechanism that man has not been able to reproduce. And much of it is what I call irreducibly complex, so that if you take one part away from the machine, the machine will break down, just as you can take a couple of spark plugs from a car and it will not work. Things will break down in the cell as well.
These things haven't been explained by Darwinian theory in any journal article, and there's good reason to think that, in principle, they can't be explained by Darwinian theory.
So Darwin's idea, now viewed in retrospect, has a much more limited range of application. Darwinian evolution can really explain when an organism has a slight change that might favor it—natural selection can explain that. For example, how a polar bear might have arisen from a brown bear. It can explain insecticide resistance in insects and so on. So it can explain little changes, but it's the big things in life that it has trouble explaining.
and why is it that people still believe in such a stupid theory?!? seriously! if you want to reject God.. go ahead, but like ive said before.. be intellectually honest about it!, dont go throwing around some false/falsified theory as a basis for your beliefs.. seriously..
(also interesting to note, is how the theory of darwinism helped the nazi's with the development of their genocidal ideas during WWII.. im not connecting dots at random here.. but just saying.. its interesting to note.. )
and heres some stuff on dna...
Let's first consider some of the characteristics of this genetic 'language.' For it to be rightly called a language, it must contain the following elements: an alphabet or coding system, correct spelling, grammar (a proper arrangement of the words), meaning (semantics) and an intended purpose.
Scientists have found the genetic code has all of these key elements. "The coding regions of DNA," explains Dr. Stephen Meyer, "have exactly the same relevant properties as a computer code or language" (quoted by Strobel, p. 237, emphasis in original).
dictionary.com says that language is:
[...] a systematic means of communicating by the use of sounds or conventional symbols;[...]
communicating?? hmm.. in other words,
To convey information about; make known; impart:[...]
you cant really expect communicatable information to be created out of thin air by some random process.. otherwise, it wouldnt be information.. so DNA, can be thought of as a communicatable message.. and now, the clencher.. a message from whom?? to whom?? (retorical statement, since we already know)
Up to now, Darwinian evolutionists could try to counter their detractors with some possible explanations for the complexity of life. But now they have to face the information dilemma: How can meaningful, precise information be created by accident—by mutation and natural selection? None of these contain the mechanism of intelligence, a requirement for creating complex information such as that found in the genetic code.
[...]
"As recently as twenty-five years ago," says former atheist Patrick Glynn, "a reasonable person weighing the purely scientific evidence on the issue would likely have come down on the side of skepticism [regarding a Creator]. That is no longer the case." He adds: "Today the concrete data point strongly in the direction of the God hypothesis. It is the simplest and most obvious solution . . ."
(also known as Occam's Razor)...
"It was once expected," writes Professor Behe, "that the basis of life would be exceedingly simple. That expectation has been smashed. Vision, motion, and other biological functions have proven to be no less sophisticated than television cameras and automobiles. Science has made enormous progress in understanding how the chemistry of life works, but the elegance and complexity of biological systems at the molecular level have paralyzed science's attempt to explain their origins"
to conclude, i propose we start referring to the "theory" of evolution as: "the myth of evolution".. if people can call christianity (or, the judeo/christian God) a "myth".. and not have qualms about it, then we should do the same where it fits.. "the myth of evolution"

if you havent yet heard about it, there was a harvard study on the effectiveness of prayer.. concluding that "prayer doesnt work".. of course this set of a red flag for me, so i (upon danny boi's (yes! he is alive!!) request) set out to see how the study was carried out.. this article best explains it..
"Whatever prayer they are researching at Harvard is not the way it is being done in real life, even by doctors themselves,"
seems like they just got a group of "whoever"s and asked them to pray.. without really caring.. thats obviously NOT, as stated above, how its done in real life. so, if you hear someone mentioning that study, now you know what to say..

i was just randomly seeing what googleads has been showing on my site, and i ran into this part of my blog (which for some reason had "skulls" as the main word advertized.. which, yeah, exactly, made me think "what the who?".. and that made me start reading)
to give you some backup story.. i accepted Christ on september 6th, 2001.. on a thursday.. some days later is when i started my blog. so this blog has been basically a journal of my new life in Christ.. all the ups and the downs.. just raw me on the page.. and there was a long post about how my relationship with my dad was going.. man, those were tough times for me.. really tough.. and as i was reading i thought.. "man, i was so mature back then.. " like, unexpectedly so.. i dont know.. obviously i did a lot of stupid things back then.. a lot of stuff i couldve done differently.. but then again, i wouldnt be here today if i hadnt.. in any case.. i was reading and found this line which i thought was beautiful:
"all the problems and sad events that had happened in the last months hit me all at once, and i had to cry. i didnt weep, my eyes bled tears."

[2:35:38]
hey, have you guys hear the whole "God doesnt exist, because if He did, He would not be able to create an unstoppable force and an immovable object.." or something along those lines.. the point of the argument is to say that you cant have both and unstoppable force and an immovable object.. well, the other day while i was running around at 1am at school in the cold, i thought, "wait a minute, yes you can!" the whole point of an unstoppable force, is that it cannot be stopped, and the whole point of the immovable object is that it cannot be moved.. well.. think about it.. if they never cross paths, this is a very very possible thing now.. why? because the immovable object would never encounter the unstoppable force!!!! man, such a simple and sweet solution.. to such a dumb fallacious semantically challenged logic proposition.. (in less big words.. to such a dumb argument)
however, what if you run into the whole "ah well, if God exists, and He can do anything, then He would not be able to create an object He cannot move." again.. semantics.. Is God limited? actually, yes. (at this point my muslim readers begin throwing stuff at their screen) what is God's limit? His will.. God cannot do what God doesnt will to do. (theres a difference between "willing" to do, and "wanting to do" i can eat something i dont want to eat, but i still am making the decision to eat.. get it?) God cannot be, and not be at the same time.. He cannot go against His own nature.. that is God's limit.. (whoa, that reminded me of "bloodline limits".. but thats another post..)
so, if God is limited by His will alone (and the no self-contradiction rule of propositional logic) then how does this affect that argument? well.. God can create a stone that He can move.. but does not will to move.. hahha.. see? He can and He can't both at the same time.. its not physically impossible for Him to move it, but it is something He cant do while He doesnt will it.. ah yes, i have been leaving the fax on lately havent i?

haha again, from that book that ive been reading for the last 7 hours of my (very very tired) life..
Three people are scheduled for execution: a priest, an attorney, and an engineer. First, the priest steps up to the
gallows. The executioner pulls the lever to drop the hatch, but nothing happens. The priest claims divine
intervention and demands his release, so he is set free. Next, the attorney takes a stand at the gallows. The
executioner pulls the lever, but again nothing happens. The attorney claims another attempt would be double
jeopardy and demands release, so he is set free. Finally, the engineer steps up to the gallows and begins a
careful examination of the scaffold. Before the executioner can pull the lever, he looks up and declares, "Aha,
here's your problem."
[7:14:58]
oh man, i just remembered one of my dreams from yesterday.. ill type up part of it before i forget..
i was in some building that might have been or looked like a really empty clothing or dept store.. and there was a ladder going up to the ceiling.. which was a bit higher than normal, and i went up it, where it led to a trap door.. which i went into.. the door was to a (holey crap! i just remembered a really messed up part of my dream! ahhh!) penthouse apt on the roof of the building, but it was very small and had a lot of window area (not a lot of walls) and there were really fancy couches and a fireplace (it was really fancy and weird.. is all i can say) and then i remember feeling like there was a ghost there or something, and then i saw a helicopter or something out a window, which i was trying to avoid being seen by it.. and some people on the roof.. cant really explain well cuz it was like they faded in and out of existance from the dream.. then, i was crawling about on the floor and i seemed to see a weird either mummified or i dont know what it was body.. on the floor.. it was like there had been a pool of blood, and there were legs, right next to the couch.. holey crap, it was soo weird.. and i kept wondering if the person was alive, actually, in the dream it was a girl.. and apparently, i knew the girl, but it was perhaps a year since she had either been missing or dead.. and i wasnt sure if she was dead or not.. but i do remember that she was a white girl probably brunette or black hair.. not blonde.. but yeah.. there she was, and i kept thinking how messed up that was, and i was sort of hesitant about touching her foot to see if she was alive.. her feet had socks on.. and if memory serves me, they were red (or brown) socks.. man.. and then those people who had been on the roof, i now began to realize might have had something to do with it.. and i remember they were of eastern european descent.. most likely russian.. holey moley.. and ive had this dream before too.. but it was sort of different.. and i think not so detailed.. man.. my dreams are sooo messed up!.. holey..

"evolution is the lazy man's excuse to not believe in creation"
-insaner
i was in the shower thinking how ridiculous the whole theory of evolution is.. and i thought of the following analogy:
you have two rats. the first is immune to poison A, but will die when exposed to poison B. the second is immune to poison B, but will die when exposed to poison A. you put both of them in a box with cheese containing poison A. they both eat, and the second rat dies.
applying current evolutionist views, if you ask an evolutionist what happened, the evolutionist would say "well, its a clear case of 'survival of the fittest'.. now, the entire rat population is immune to poison A.. rats have evolved to be stronger".
yeah, that is exactly their logic. however, in this analogy, it becomes completely clear that, no enhancement has ocurred on the rat population, but rather, a weakening, as, now, there are no rats immune to poison B.. we lost a feature!! and thats the common mistake evolutionists make.. there is no scientist who will honestly say that mutation leads to improvements. mutations are what cause cancer and vestigial growths.. none of which leads to any such 'improvements' as they are trying to convince us of.. so now you have an additional argument to use against evolutionists.. if they still deny it, then just kindly say to them:
"listen, if you dont want to believe in creation, thats perfectly fine.. but dont use the (unscientific) theory of evolution to support it.. "
[16:19:59]
hahah this is an actual line in a book i have to read by tomorrow for my final exam for one of my computer science courses:
There is a widely told joke in the computer industry that goes like this: A man is flying in a small airplane and is lost in the clouds. He
descends until he spots an office building and yells to a man in an open window, "Where am I?" The man replies, "You are in an airplane
about 100 feet above the ground." The pilot immediately turns to the proper course, spots the airport, and lands. His astonished
passenger asks how the pilot figured out which way to go. The pilot replies, "The answer the man gave me was completely correct and
factual, yet it was no help whatsoever, so I knew immediately he was a software engineer who worked for Microsoft, and I know where
Microsoft's building is in relation to the airport."

holey!!! the simpsons in real life!!
[4:00:28]
this however, (from the same site) i found quite quite interesting (yes, 2 quites..):
"Catholics are delighted to learn that there are more verses in the Qur'an -- 34 of them -- which name the Blessed Virgin Mary than there are in the whole New Testament." He said that while Muslims do not believe that Mary is the mother of God, they hold her in great esteem. (...)
its funny how its phrased.. and also the fact that they dont mention that christians dont believe that mary neither remained a virgin, nor was she the "mother of God" either... (she was only the mother of Jesus.. she would have to predate God to be His mother.. making her God by definition.. funny how they dont think of these things before coming up with their synchretised pagan beliefs.. *sigh* ah well.. ) but they do, indeed hold her in great esteem.. much as we do the disciples.. etc..
(sorry, i didnt read the whole page.. its now 5am.. and im sooo tired.. like you have no idea.. and i have to be up in 5hours)
[3:55:22]
i like this explanation i found on some catholic online bible thing:
2 [8-10] When love directs the Christian's moral decisions, the interest of law in basic concerns, such as familial relationships, sanctity of life, and security of property, is safeguarded (Romans 13:9). Indeed, says Paul, the same applies to any other commandment (Romans 13:9), whether one in the Mosaic code or one drawn up by local magistrates under imperial authority. Love anticipates the purpose of public legislation, namely, to secure the best interests of the citizenry. Since Caesar's obligation is to punish the wrongdoer (Romans 13:4), the Christian who acts in love is free from all legitimate indictment.

[16:54:40]
heres something i wrote that i want to see if it gets published in the student newspaper:
Here is what I have learned about being a Christian in the 4 years that I have been one:
The first thing, I guess I already knew since I was able to talk. "Nobody's perfect", we've all done something bad at some point in our life. The bible says that those bad things that we do are called "sins". Just a fancy way of saying it, I guess. The bible also says that God loves us. Yeah, just the way we are, sins and all. However, the bible also says that it is this sin that prevents us from having a personal relationship with Him. It's sort of like trying to hear your best friend through a concrete wall. But He loves us, so He wants to knock that wall down. And this is where it gets violent. The bible says that the penalty for sin is death. (This comes all the way from the oldest books of the bible.) But He loves us, and He said "Instead of you guys having to die, here, I'll go down and do it myself." So, since He is God and He can do anything, He took on flesh and became a human, just like you and me, except He never sinned. And then He got up on a cross (it's a bit more dramatic than that) and died for all of us. Yeah, nobody killed Him, not the Jews, not the Romans, nobody, He gave it up of His own free will, out of love, because He loves us. By dying, it means that He paid the price for our sins. Then He resurrected on the third day, which was not too common those days (or at all), and went back up to Heaven. So, the bible says that now He offers us what He did as a gift (with a hefty price tag), that we can either accept or reject, but it's a personal decision we must make of our own free will (that means nobody can force anybody else to do so). It says that it brings with it a responsibility and that the way we accept it is by recognizing what he did: firstly, trusting only in what He did, and trusting that it was enough, and that there is nothing we can do to earn it (it's a gift, if we could earn it, then it would be a prize), and by repenting (which is another one of those fancy words that just means to change your ways from bad to good). Yeah, pretty simple. But for some reason, this has changed my entire life. It doesn't mean that bad stuff doesn't happen to me anymore (and if you know me, you know my life is full of insane experiences) but rather, it just means that I know I have a loving God behind me, taking care of me, no matter what. And, I don't know, it feels pretty good to know that.
