(BE INFORMED...political history..hmm)
Do you know what political party…
Was initially created as anti-slavery leaders broke away to establish a new political group to abolish slavery?
Allowed black Americans to participate in the political process subsequent to slavery; resulting in hundreds of black men who were former slaves, becoming congressmen and prominent political leaders?
Spearheaded the Dred Scott decision of 1857, delivered by a party-specific Supreme Court declaring blacks were not persons or citizens, but instead property with no rights?
Repealed all civil rights laws in 1876 and instituted “Jim Crow” laws to deprive blacks of their voting and civil rights?
Did not have a single one of its 56 Congressional members vote for the 15th amendment which supported granting explicit voting rights to black Americans?
Formed the Ku Klux Klan in an effort to prevent African-American leaders from being elected to political office after slavery was abolished; and terrorized both black and white Americans who had a specific party affiliation?
Had its key leaders vote against a bill called the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004; which would protect unborn children from assault and murder?

for all my christian friends (sad that it wont be passed around, everyone needs to read this and dwell on whether its describing them or not):
"One of the most troubling signs about (SOME...not all, just some) younger reformed brethren who consider themselves revolutionary or even better, 'reforming' is when they are more influenced by their peers then by older saints!
From yng women to yng men the scriptures are clear, they should first and foremost be seeking advice from an older generation, they should be learning about family about ministry about holiness about speech about attitude about modesty about respect etc from older godly influences.
Indeed it can't be ignored that there is a lack of older theologically sound people within most of our churches, but they can still be found even if that means from sermons, blogs, books etc and the qualifying factors shouldn't be how much they sound like younger groups ('relevant'), but that they display a maturity in truth and in godliness. What's frightening today is the rise of so many younger reformed folk that throw off an older generation, abandon any principles and godliness while pretending to know all their faults yet failing to display anything close to their passion for souls and intimacy with God rather they are more known by their entertainment choices, their boasting in liberties (and how quickly they can defend them if someone is offended, to which they can show why you're not 'really' offended, not in the biblical sense where they might have to actually limit themselves in anything), yes known for their 'honesty' (which means nothing is 'really' crude to them and they're being 'genuine' when they vent their anger at this or that)."

and then some other (unrelated) guy's status update just ugh, made me post this:
im sorry guys, but these "hyped up for Christ" movements are soo stupid and empty and useless.. how many times did you personally get all "hyped for Christ" and it had ZERO effect on your hatred for sin, your desire for holiness and zeal for evangelism? you just got that bit of shortness of breath (probably due to the jumping up and down to the tune of some contemporary "hit" with lyrics as empty as the center of a gumball) and "positive attitude".. but NONE of that is grounded in Scripture.. its all just manmade garbage.. and yet you love to eat that garbage.. having the delicious living Word of God at your disposal, for which so many saints and even courageous unsaved men spilled their blood to grant you the RIGHT to have it and even freely read it publicly.
stop your silliness and get down on your knees and weep bitterly over your sin.. repent, and glorify that Holy God in Heaven that created you.. and LEARN what it is He /actually/ said in His Word as to how to live your life.
what needs to be done to spur us deeper into holiness? deeper into diving head first with abandon into glorifying that Holy Living God who dwells in the heavens??
As the attacks on Nigeria's Christians continued in full force this past week, a particularly grisly attack saw fifty believers burned to death at their pastor's home, where they had fled for refuge from a terrorist attack.
Reports disclosed that over 100 people were killed by armed terrorists this past week, who went on a 12-village killing spree in Nigeria's Plateau state. Islamic extremist group Boko Haram has once again taken responsibility for the assaults.
Different sources have shared various reports of the number of lost lives from last week's assault on Christians, which have been occurring on a weekly basis for many months in Nigeria. But a story last week by the Baptist Press confirmed that about 50 members of the Church of Christ in Nigeria in the village of Maseh were burned alive after they took refuge in their pastor's house following a terrorist raid.
"Fifty of our church members were killed in the church building where they had fled to take refuge. They were killed alongside the wife of the pastor and children," said the Rev. Dachollom Datiri, vice president of the Church of Christ in Nigeria, in a July 11 interview.
Officials from the church confirmed that over 100 members were killed through various villages in Nigeria, which included Maseh, Ninchah, Kakkuruk, Kuzen, Negon, Pwabiduk, Kai, Ngyo, Kura Falls, Dogo, Kufang, and Ruk.
"Nigeria is truly becoming the new killing field for Christians. Hundreds of Christians have already been brutally murdered – including women and children – by the Boko Haram," said Open Doors, USA spokesman Jerry Dykst. "The Boko Haram earlier this week said that all Christians need to turn to Islam or 'they would never know peace again.' Their goal is make all of Nigeria a country run and dominated by Shariah law."
Koko the Gorilla Cries Over the Loss of a Kitten
This is old footage of Koko the gorilla loving and caring for a pet kitten...and then crying whenever she finds out the kitty died. If anyone says animals don't feel emotions, show them this.
Recently, people have been in an uproar, on the Internet and social sites, both in protest and in support of a resounding corporate ethos made by Chick-fil-A’s president and CEO, Dan Cathy to Baptist Press and the Ken Coleman Show.
When it comes to supporting traditional marriage Cathy replied, “Guilty as charged” and warned that gay marriage is “Inviting God’s judgment on our Nation.” Cathy went on to say: “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’, I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is all about.”
“We don’t claim to be a Christian business”, Cathy went on to tell Baptist Press. “But as an organization we can operate on biblical principles, so that is what we claim to be. [Chick-fil-A] is based on biblical principle; asking God and pleading with God to give us wisdom on decisions we make about people and the programs and partnerships we have. And He has blessed us.”
Let’s look at this for a moment. Can a business operate on Biblical principles and still be profitable?
If you’re like me, you leave church on Sunday hungry. The wife and kids could be a little cranky because, well, they’re hungry too. As you survey the landscape of restaurants you inexplicably notice that Chick-fil-A is closed and you let out an, ‘if only’ sigh; knowing that you’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to get that spicy chicken sandwich.
In continuing with its trend of strong sales performance, Chick-fil-A announced that it exceeded $4 billion in annual sales in 2011. This was a record for the Atlanta-based chain, representing a 13.08% increase over its 2010 sales performance. The company also generated a healthy 7% same-store sales increase and marked the 44th consecutive year of sales growth since the company began in 1967.
Chick-fil-A operates more than 1600 stores in its chain, all of which close on Sunday in order to; ‘give its employees a day for family, worship, fellowship or rest’, according to Chick-fil-A’s website. Closing on Sunday costs Chick-fil-A an estimated $700,000,000 in sales a year or a conservative $210,000,000 in profits. Yet, Chick-fil-A remains the second largest quick-service restaurant chain in the nation based on annual sales, operating at an average of $2,500,000 in sales per unit.
Contrast Chick-fil-A’s sales figures with the largest of all fast-food restaurants, McDonald’s, which currently operates 34,000 stores, totaling $27,000,000,000 in sales, or $800,000 per unit. Chick-fil-A manages a three-fold increase in per store sales over McDonald’s, and they’re closed on one of the busiest days in fast food sales.
Obviously the answer to our previous question is yes. A business can not only operate on Biblical principles and make a profit; it can operate on Biblical principles and make more money than its secular counterpart.
In all things we do, we should do them with strategic Biblical precepts. God has dominion over all things, including our businesses. In light of this, shouldn’t we consider His principles over any humanist or secular agenda disguised as ‘equality’?
Mark Wolford, a Pentecostal pastor in West Virginia, was known for leading a church that speaks in tongues and handles snakes. In November last year he told the Washington Post, “Anybody can do it that believes it.”
Looks like that’s not quite true. On Sunday while leading a service, Wolford was bitten by one of his snakes and died.
About 30 minutes into the service, his sister said, Wolford passed a yellow timber rattlesnake to a church member and his mother.
“He laid it on the ground,” she said, “and he sat down next to the snake, and it bit him on the thigh.”
Of note: Wolford’s father was also a snake handler and also died of a snake bite in 1983. Is there something in the water?
A TAIWAN teenager has collapsed and died at an internet cafe after playing Diablo 3, a popular online video game, for 40 consecutive hours, local media say.
The 18-year-old identified by only his surname, Chuang, booked a private room at the cafe in Tainan, southern Taiwan, around noon on July 13 and played for nearly two days without eating, the United Daily News broadsheet reported on Tuesday.
On the morning of July 15, an attendant entered the room and found Chuang resting on a table. After the attendant woke him, he stood, took a few steps and then collapsed, the report said.
He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital.
Police were investigating the cause of death and an autopsy was being carried out, the newspaper reported.
They speculated that long hours in a sedentary position created cardiovascular problems for Chuang, the report said.
Blizzard, the game maker that produces Diablo III, says it's important people play in moderation.
"While we recognise that it's ultimately up to each individual or their parent or guardian to determine playing habits, we feel that moderation is clearly important, and that a person's day-to-day life should take precedence over any form of entertainment," a spokesman said.
This is the second death in Taiwan from playing video games this year.
wait, what?? this is the second death in taiwan from playing video games this year??? what in the world is going on??
In February, a man in New Taipei was found dead, slumped in a chair facing a computer with his arms still reaching out for the keyboard after playing for 23 hours. The cause of death was reported as cardiac arrest.
and nevermind that the name of the game is "diablo" (spanish for "devil"). yeah, nevermind that part too.. my goodness.. have mercy on us oh Lord..
In the early days when most two-way radio communication used "Morse" code (radiotelegraph), operators used very short 'procedural' signals to save time. One such signal was the letter "R", which was sent to indicate that a message had been received in full. As operators changed over to voice operation (radiotelephone), they kept the same letter, but pronounced it with a phonetic alphabet in which "R" was spoken as "roger", still indicating that a message had been received.
Sometimes the radio operator is also the person addressed (for instance, perhaps an aircraft pilot). That person might add the response "Wilco", which is short for "will comply".
The term "over" is used with radio (or even telephone) connections when only one person can speak (successfully) at a time. It means "I have finished speaking for the moment, but am expecting your reply - go ahead". "Out" means "I have finished speaking, and the conversation is finished; don't reply". They are not properly used together.
Read, as in 'Do you read me", refers to hearing a signal clearly enough to be understood. Copy probably originally referred to writing or typing a received message, but now has is essentially the same as 'Read'.
got it? ok, over and out.. (teehee!)
wait, in case it was lost, the point is that it is wrong to say "over and out".. its either over or out, but cant be both.. k, out.
"Although these "ten points" are often attributed to Abraham Lincoln, these aphorisms are from the pen of Reverend William John Henry Boetcker (1873-1962). And they are as true to today as they were a century and a half ago. The problem is that we've forgotten how true they are.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves."
joelie, when you have a moment, can we watch this vid together and you explain all the parts to me? thanks.
11 Months, 3000 pictures and a lot of coffee.
Started out as just a collection of snaps as I stripped down an engine bought off ebay. (To replace my old engine, which had suffered catastrophic failure). The snaps were so that I remembered how everything went, so I could put it back together again.
Then I realised it'd be quite cool to make it an animation. found some suitable music, rekindled my ancient knowledge of Premiere, storyboarded it, shot it as I worked on the engine (my poor DSLR got covered in engine oil), this was the result.
The music is "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" from Edvard Griegs "Peer Gynt Suite"
I own a suitable license for this piece of music, supplied by Chris Worth Productions
"Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. "
"Christians die and become ANGELS? NO WAY!!! Sounds good until we look at the scripture, for it contains no such teaching, furthermore that's a whole lot less exciting then what we get......consider brethren that God is so glorious and so holy that despite the fact that Angels have no sin to repent of they still cover their faces with their wings before God, yet we because of our standing in Christ, because of His imputed righteousness to us, we shall behold Him with unveiled faces...how great a salvation indeed!"
-Julius Mickel
i like especially the part where he says that the angels, having no sin, cover their faces, and because of the imputed righteousness we get in Christ, we get to see Him without a veil over our eyes.. wowsers.. thats awesome
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
so, i was on facebook, typing up some really long responses to a couple of threads ive been interacting with atheists and others on, (about, among other things: science, abortion, the new covenant, cults, creation, evolution and gay marriage.. yes, in just two threads all of these topics (and more!)) and..
GAHHHHH!!!! firefox crashed!! usually i dont care, cuz firefox is awesome, and the fact that its trucking along with more than 300+ tabs open is pretty awesome, and even when it crashes, it can restore ALL my tabs, AND the text i was typing in them.. "so why the 'GAH!!'?" you ask? well, because FACEBOOK decides that its too cool for school, and overwrites ALL the stuff i have written with the default text of "Write a comment..." GAH!! so, sure, firefox can restore it.. err.. could restore it.. but cant because facebook overwrote it!! i refresh the page, try the back arrow, anything.. i smack my forehead a couple times, sweat a bit (its nice and hot these days) and then start despairing..
i hate technology.
so as i sat here wondering "oh man, is it that God didnt want me to post those responses? but they were all sound and respectful! i cant go back and retype all that stuff, im going to forget half of it! and alll the time its going to take!" in utter disbelief.. i began thinking.. what kind of ordeals have i been through with firefox that remind me of this? and then i began thinking about the actual system involved in keeping all my tabs after a crash.. the "session restore" system.
now, as you guys already know, when you are as good at getting into problems as me, you inevitably must become good at getting out of them.. so yeah, i sort of know where to go to attempt to solve this problem, and for your benefit, i will tell you here.
first, (do not close firefox!!!) you must access your "sessionstore.bak" file (not the .js file, that one got overwritten by facebook, remember?) make sure to make a copy to work on, cuz if you trash this one, youre done. done like dinner.
the sessionstore.bak file is in your firefox profile which, is something like:
notice i tell you to copy this file.. because i tried to access it directly *looks away*.. i tried opening with "kwrite" first.. which hung.. just, ate up my processor at 100% until i just killed it.. then "gedit".. same thing.. also notice i tell you to copy the .bak file and not the .js file.. because i tried opening both at the same time.. so i figured this was caused by some strange loop or race condition in that firefox was trying to access the file at the same time, or had it locked or something (it wasnt a big file, so it made no sense to be processing this much).. in any case, i did a
killall -STOP firefox
to first stop firefox (so it wouldnt keep trying to write to the file, maybe that was the race condition)... and after i eventually managed to have one of the files start appearing in gedit, i was able to run a search for a term i knew occurred in one of the posts i was typing (which is what im trying to recover) BINGO! wait- wha--? lots of strange characters appear on the screen as if all the text is overlayed in a single line.. ok.. i guess somethings going on.. weird invalid characters.. gedit and kwrite dont likey.. so i guess i must open with a hex editor.. ran the search on both files, and BLAM! found the posts in the .bak file! wee! (this is why i could tell you from the beginning which file to access, and yeah, how to do it)..
so i used "ghex2" in case you were wondering.. which was really dumb at trying to select and copy the text.. but in any case, a bit of effort and it did the trick. copy paste into a new editor (yeah, gedit and kwrite are both fine to use.. heh) and then youll realize a bunch of strange extra characters are there.. namely:
\n
and
\"
these are called "escape characters" because they mean something else when treated in certain ways by programs.. so what you have to do is just do a search and replace for all, and the
\n
you replace with a newline. in gedit you just type "\\n" in the search box and "\n" in the replace box.. (yeah, dont worry about this making sense.. "\n" just means "new line character" and the "\\n" is to escape the escape character itself. heh.)
\"
you need to replace with a
"
and BOOM! back in business, baby!!
nono, i still hate technology.. i just like being able to solve some of these problems i have..
ill make sure to post some of those posts here.. they will prove to be quite edifying

This problem can be solved by pre-school children in 5-10 minutes, by programer – in 1 hour, by people with higher education … well, check it yourself! :)
a pro-evolution project to mock non-evolutionists who have been compiling a list of non-evolutionist scientists, ironically stated this in their description:

haha, its funny how irony is not lost on this crowd..
