"if your theology doesnt produce holiness, your theology is bad, and if your holiness doesnt lead to you delving deep into theology, then your holiness is bad"
oh wow.. incredible video of yesterday's tornado in alabama..
4/27/11 - Tuscaloosa Tornado
This video is from the EF4 tornado that went through Tuscaloosa, AL on 4/27/11. It was taken from the University Mall parking lot. Probably the closest video to the storm your going to see.
“Church isn’t where you meet. Church isn’t a building. Church is what you do. Church is who you are. Church is the human outworking of the person of Jesus Christ. Let’s not go to Church, let’s be the Church.”
Original Hymn By Josiah Conder Chords,
Song Sheet
"Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should abide: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." - John 15:16
"We love, because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19
"But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:18
on my facebook wall (yeah yeah, out with it already, as if you didnt know what i meant by "my social networking site of choice"):
can i say that i officially find it offensive that companies and media have "easter" as rabbits and eggs? you see happy diwali, happy ramadan, happy hannukah, all with the right elements.. but easter.. ohhh no.. easter is rabbits and eggs. enfuriating. but also quite telling. ever wondered why they treat Christ differently? thats right. because Christ IS different, He is the truth, the way and the life!

this is only the case with "westernized" countries, since if you go to, say, a catholic country, this whole week on TV is movies about Jesus and the crucifiction. but canada and the US is all "eggs and bunnies".. lik...e they purposely removed the entire meaning of the christian passover from society. christmas who cares, since the birth of Christ wasnt even in december, and its not something that was traditionally observed. but the crucifiction is the most important and most significant event of all, why replace it with something so stupid? are we all pagans in the westernized world that we should celebrate a pagan holiday? we might in a sense be living in "christianized" societies, having been founded originally by christians escaping persecution in europe.. but that all ended centuries ago
--
the influence ended.. the persecution just became a little more subtle and acceptable
--
in europe its not really so much a persecution as it is a suppression (actually, not even that.. its worse in north america than in europe i think), but as with any persecution, it starts with suppression, then moves to oppression, the...n full on persecution. but to be honest, its so annoying when people who call themselves christian whine about the "persecution" in the US and canada, as if they were being personally persecuted, as if they knew what persecution is.. when you have christians in muslim countries, for example, being set on fire (like in that video on my wall) or having their heads lopped off and their bodies thrown in a ditch, like those 4 girls in indonesia, etc.. merely for being christian. and didnt dawkins even say the world would be better off without christians? that is the kind of rhetoric that all genocides start off with..
interesting how a conversation can swing out of control like that, huh? anyways, my point stands though, i find it offensive to talk about stupid rabbits and eggs on the holiest time in the christian calendar.
sorry for the lack of posts.. ive been working on some stuff.. but let me just post something thats a week overdue.. i did my first oil change last saturday! woot! yep, joelie sent me a threatening message saying he was going to change the oil and tires, and at what time.. so i dilligently made sure to be there only one hour late (i almost cancelled, but he doesnt know that.. my wife was on the phone to cancel because i was so tired, but getting her to call to cancel woke me up.. so i decided to go) in any case, the story behind it is that i told him i want to learn how to car-maintenance (dont think its a verb? well it is, and dont question mah authoritay!) so i told him to let me know whenever hes going to be doing any car fixingness (what did i tell you about questioning mah authoritay?) so i could help. so he did. so i did. and it was awesome.. i got to wear huge mechanic overalls, and a crazy accent too (yes, theres a video.. at some point i will have to start uploading all that stuff to youtube) in any case, i changed the oil, the oil filter, and the 4 tires using an awesome pneumatic uh.. bolt gun.. and i kept "shooting" it in the air saying "hooold on to yer lugnuts.. iiiits tiiime for an overhaul!!"
some days later we rode the car and didnt die.. so i didnt do so bad a job, now, did i? whats next? well.. that depends on joelie, but if i play my cards right, im going to try to ease him into the idea of taking his truck apart and building it right back up.. but ill have to eeeease him into the idea..
If a man is a fool, you don't train him out of being a fool by sending him to university. You merely turn him into a trained fool, ten times more dangerous.
a couple of updates to the site, as you mightve noticed.. yeah, a i added a few more ads.. oh well, eventually this site should be able to at least cover for its own domain registration.. goodness.. and it might be that i will have to ad more ads.. whoa, haha typo. but in any case, i dont like the intrusiveness of ads, so dont worry, it will not get out of hand.. i just need to find a way of making the ads on the rhs less lame.. whats with that "restored church of God" garbage?? my goodness, insaner.com, brought you by every new cult under the sun.. anyhooze, speaking of which, i updated the "about me" a bit.. its more biblical and a little more in depth now.. but not by much.
whoa, im falling asleep.. havent slept and am technically fasting.. i say "technically" because i usually dont eat till later in the day anyways.. and that added to the fact that i had forgotten about my fast at midnight (usually when i fast i make a big deal out of it, preparing mentally etc, but since its just one day, it sort of slipped my mind.. that aggregated to a couple other not so great things im dealing with right now) long story short, im tired, and i think i will take an hourlong nap.. or two (two hours, not two naps) we'll see
World famous atheist, Christopher Hitchens, made a surprising revelation recently that his former debate opponent, outspoken evangelical scientist Francis Collins, is behind a new experimental cancer treatment that he is using.
[...]
Prior to falling ill, Hitchens had debated Collins, author of The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief, about the existence of God. Hitchens said he and Collins have become good friends despite their religious differences.
“It is a rather wonderful relationship,” said Hitchens. “I won’t say he doesn’t pray for me, because I think he probably does; but he doesn’t discuss it with me.”
He added, “He agrees that his medical experience does not include anything that could be described as a miracle cure – he’s never come across anything.”
Hitchens has been polite about the idea of Christians praying for his cancer treatment. But he has remained resolute that his cancer battle will not sway his religious opinion on God.
how to change the icon size of your desktop icons in gnome: go to nautilus, click on the "edit" menu, "preferences" and in the "views" tab, "icon view defaults" select a different size.. thats it.. (anyone else think its dumb that you cant do this from the desktop itself?)
"friday" by rebecca black is the most educational song out there.. especially if it happens to be friday, and you are being faced with the difficult decision of whether to kick it in the front seat or sittin in the back seat
yes, it is possible to get metacity to show the "always on top" (also known as "keep above") button.. heres how:
type "gconf-editor" in a terminal (or just use ALT+F2 and type it in there), then go to "/apps/metacity/general/button_layout" and add the buttons you'd like, or change the button order, etc. in other words, if you want the "always on top" button to show, type this:
menu:above,minimize,maximize,close
other possible values are:
"stick, shade" (as well as "above, minimize, maximize, close"
of course, for the 3 extra values (above, shade, stick) the theme has to support it.. luckily, version 0.3 of my theme does.. yer weeeelcome!
i guess in theory you could just remove any and all buttons, and have metacity run with no window buttons.. haha.. i dare you to!
im also feeling that either later today or at some point tomorrow i might finally number 2 (i havent since probably monday) ill try to get it done today (i do not subscribe to the idea of pushing it when theres no urge)
