Rinspeed will present its new sQuba, the worlds first diving car, at the Geneva Motor Show (March 6-16). The car is not only able to drive on roads autonomously with a push of a button (thus without a driver, passenger or further assistance), but can also transform into an amphibious vehicle which can be submerged in water up to 10 meters (33 feet). An electric motor with powerful torque drives the rear wheels, while the propulsion on the water is ensured by two propellers in the stern and two powerful jet drives in the bow propelling the vehicle under water while diving. When underwater, the driver and passenger are enclosed in the vehicle thanks to light weight body components made of futuristic Carbon Nano Tubes and are supplied with fresh breathing air by the self-contained on-board system.
Built around a Lotus Elise, the Rinspeed sQuba is a concept car that can 'fly' underwater and has zero emissions. It will debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, 30 years after its inspiration: the movie The Spy Who Loved Me. The sQuba was featured in the first episode of 14th season of Fifth Gear.
some youtube guy asked a general question on a video, "why dont you commit murder?" and made some good points about it not being because its the law, since you break other laws, and some other interesting points about heaven and hell.. his conclusion was (basically) that if you dont believe you will be punished for it, and you still dont murder, that you are doing it because you are "good". so here goes my answer:
good vid, good point. except, "not murdering" is not a sign of being good.. because if you are an adulterous, lying thief, who hates everyone, and only doesnt murder, then that is not a sign of being good.
but just to give the biblical perspective, the bible says that there is nothing you can do to earn heaven (ephesians2:8-9), so if a christian does good? things its not due to desiring to earn heaven, but rather a consequence of conforming to the new nature (ephesians4:23)
a (true) christian is a person who first had to admit they were evil, and in need? of being rescued.
someone who thinks they are good is too arrogant and proud to recognize they need help, this is not biblical christianity.
why do i not murder? the bible says that it is the Holy Spirit of God, that dwells in me since i was converted, that prevents me from not only killing, but sexual immorality, idolatry, and witchcraft.. and this not of my own goodness, of which i have none.
you might find this educational.. and useful for talking to evolutionists who use this as an argument
The fossil was apparently discovered in 1983 by private collectors who split and eventually sold two parts of the skeleton on separate plates: The lesser part was restored and, in the process, partly fabricated to make it look more complete.
This part was purchased for a private museum in Wyoming, and then described by Jens L. Franzen, part of Hurums team, who recognized the fabrication. The more complete part has just come to light, and it now belongs to the Natural History Museum of the University of Oslo.
If Idas skeleton was going to court, it would face serious chain of custody challenges. How many different people had their hands on Ida? How many opportunities were there for people to tamper with this evidence? How much of the skeleton is missing? How does anyone know for sure that all of the bones are even part of the same fossil? So far, those questions dont seem to have occurred to very many reporters.
It isnt hard to imagine motives that could lead a person to distort this kind of evidence. Sky News reports that a private dealer acquired Ida in 2006 and offered her to Professor Jorn Hurum, of Norways National History Museum, for $1 million dollars.
awesome quote from sun tzu, courtesy of joelie in the context of our ongoing war of chess:
11. What the ancients called a clever fighter is
one who not only wins, but excels in winning with ease.
12. Hence his victories bring him neither reputation
for wisdom nor credit for courage.
13. He wins his battles by making no mistakes.
Making no mistakes is what establishes the certainty
of victory, for it means conquering an enemy that is
already defeated.
14. Hence the skillful fighter puts himself into
a position which makes defeat impossible, and does
not miss the moment for defeating the enemy.
15. Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist
only seeks battle after the victory has been won,
whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights
and afterwards looks for victory.
haha i just had an 18 minute conversation with one of those "geo holiday" people.. the first 10 or so minutes consisted of
"hello?"
"hello sir"
"hi"
"hello?"
"yes?"
"oh, so by the way sir, im calling from geo holiday..."
"ok.."
"hello?"
"can you hear me?"
"hello?"
"can you hear me?"
"yes, hello sir, by the way, im calling from geo holiday, how are you sir?"
"good"
"hello?"
"hello?"
"wait a minute wait a minute"
"ok"
"ok, hello, by the way sir.."
yeah, for like 10 minutes.. youd think that a call center would make the effort to get working phones.. haha.. i almost burst out laughing at how ridiculous the situation was.. the next 8 minutes consisted of the guy explaining what the other 4 people from his company who call every week explain.. and me asking questions to which i already know the answer to.. and then at the end the guy wants to make an appointment with me (to hear their 90minute presentation) so i tell him im busy every day except monday and tuesday (probably).. and he says they dont do monday night presentations.. ooook, so tuesday then. then he wants my first name.. so i tell him that i dont give that information to unsolicited calls, to which he answers that its all free, that i dont have to pay anything, they arent soliciting that i pay for anything.. so i say "no you dont understand, thats not what unsolicited means... it means you called me, and that i wasnt who called you.." so he finally breaks and says ok, he will make the appointment under only my last name and send me the info over email.. hah.. oh man.. and my wife wonders why i like talking to telemarketers..
in case you were wondering, yes, i did answer truthfully to all their questions, and no, i was not yanking their chain at any time.. which is what makes the whole ordeal even funnier
Who ultimately killed Christ then? Was it Pilate, or the Jewish leaders, Satan, or our sins?
IT WAS GOD'S AND CHRIST'S LOVE FOR HUMANITY THAT ULTIMATELY KILLED JESUS CHRIST.
?For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whomsoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life? (John 3:16).
God the Father loves us humans so much that He was willing to go through unfathomable anguish for us, by offering His only Son to be scourged and then to be nailed to a cross. It was His love that prevented our merited extinction. It was His love that brought us unmerited forgiveness and opened the possibility of eternal life for all humans.
Jesus Christ agreed to do God's will, fully conscious of the horrific ramifications that His decision would have had for Him. Yet, He was greatly encouraged by the fact that his future suffering would have brought about salvation for all of humanity: "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world" (John 6: 51).
This is love -- unfathomable love.
Who, therefore, killed Jesus Christ? The answer should be clear by now: The Jewish leaders wished it; Pilate could have, but did not prevent it; Satan incited it; our sins demanded it. Most of all, though, it was God the Father who willed it, and it was Christ who willingly offered himself to be sacrificed -- for the Jewish leaders who wanted Him killed, for Pilate who washed his hands, for the Roman soldiers who scourged and crucified Him, for you and for me, and for all of humanity that He and the Father love so deeply.
-Michael Caputo
except for the part where he says that Jesus died for "all of humanity" its a pretty solid answer.. dont forget Jesus died to pay the ransom for "many" (not "all") (matthew 20:28 and mark 10:45) as for whether He died for the jewish leaders who wanted Him dead, and pontious pilate, or the other romans.. we dont know..
todays enraging news item of the week, and bad father of the year award go to:
"My daddy bit my eyes and hands. My daddy ate my eyes out. "Those were the words uttered by 4-year-old Angelo Mendoza Jr. when officers found him, naked and bloody, on the floor in his fathers apartment. The child had numerous bite marks on his hands.
A Bakersfield father is accused of biting out one of the eyes of his small child and similarly mutilating the other eye, leaving the child blind.
After attacking the child, 34-year-old Angel Vidal Mendoza Sr. quickly left his apartment in a wheelchair, entered a backyard of a nearby vacant home and attacked his own legs with an ax, severely injuring himself, Bakersfield police reported.
The child, 4-year-old Angelo Mendoza Jr., later told police, "My daddy ate my eyes."
Doctors at Mercy Hospital said it is unknown whether the child will regain vision in his right eye.

The boy's mother, Desirae Marie Bermudez, 23, was not present during the incident. There is a $15,000 warrant for her arrest for failing to complete a drug treatment program in late 2008, court documents say.
A search warrant report said the father "was displaying symptoms of being under the influence of PCP."
Both he and Bermudez were charged with being under the influence of PCP in a 2006 criminal case. Both pleaded no contest to child endangerment charges in that case, records say.
So why was the boy still living with the father?
CPS officials say there has to pretty much be serious physical abuse -- major bruises or broken bones -- before a child is taken away from his parents automatically.

On the morning of April 28, Mendoza asked neighbor Elizabeth Rodriguez, 36, for a ride to a work-related appointment later in the day.
At 6 p.m., she sent her 12-year-old son to get Mendoza. The boy said Mendoza opened his door slightly and looked nervous, but didn't let him in. Mendoza said he would be right out.
But a few minutes later, Rodriguez saw Mendoza rolling his wheelchair quickly away.
The 12-year-old boy and another neighbor went to Mendoza's apartment and discovered the child on the floor.
Meanwhile, witnesses told police a man was yelling and screaming in a wheelchair from the backyard and hitting his legs with an ax.
Mendoza, who remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bail, is charged with mayhem, torture, child cruelty and inflicting an injury to a child.
He's scheduled for a May 20 hearing.
His criminal history dates back to 1998 and includes convictions for drugs, battery, check forgery and a misdemeanor child endangerment.
i dont think it needs more explanation than that.. perhaps the funniest 17 seconds of your LIFE.. i mustve watched it more than 10 times now.. basically until i stopped laughing..

1998 Hard Copy Special on MILK. What the government doesn't want you to know about milk. Don't drink milk, we know it contains fat and cholesterol but did you know it contains the protein CASEIN (which is basically a glue which leads to a lot of mucous build up and other health problems like asthma and congestion), milk also contains.. powerful growth hormones, viruses, a host of deadly chemical and biological bacterial agents, bovine proteins that cause allergies, insecticides, antibiotics, all this can trigger the growth of cancer and contributes to today's problem of obese children (ever notice why young girls breasts develop faster?). Cow's milk is the number one allergic food in this country. It has been well documented as a cause in diarrhea, cramps, bloating, gas, gastrointestinal bleeding, iron-deficiency anemia, skin rashes, atherosclerosis, and acne. It is the primary cause of recurrent ear infections in children. It has also been linked to insulin dependent diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, infertility, and leukemia. Milk and refined sugar make two of the largest contributions to food induced ill health in our country.
Two ambulancemen have been arrested by police after they were heard allegedly discussing whether they should bother to resuscitate a disabled man who had collapsed at home and subsequently died.
Barry Baker, 59, who lived alone, had dialled 999 saying that he thought he was having a heart attack. An ambulance was sent to his house while a controller kept him talking on the line.
By the time the ambulancemen arrived at the house in Patcham, Brighton, Mr Baker had collapsed, but the telephone line was still open and was being recorded.
It is alleged that staff in the control centre heard the two medics making disparaging comments about the state of the house.
A police source, who asked not to be named, said that the ambulancemen were then heard discussing Mr Baker and saying ?words to the effect that he was not worth saving?.
The source said that the two men were allegedly first heard commenting on the untidy state of the house and then saying that it was not worth bothering to resuscitate Mr Baker.
They are said to have discussed what to tell ambulance control and decided to say that Mr Baker was already dead when they got there.
The controllers were said to be so shocked by what had allegedly been said that they contacted senior managers, who called the police.
ok, so some random person on youtube sends me some video of a gay guy ranting about stuff (a different user).. no comments or anything, just that video.. and im thinking.. what the who? why would some random person just send me a video like that? so instead of asking, (or watching the video for longer than a few seconds) i just returned the favor and replied only with a link to the following video:
ohh man, The Last Airbender.. i really hope they dont ruin it.. lets hope M. Night Shyamalan does a good job.. cuz this show is (was) amazing!! read more
In baseball, a curveball creates a physical effect and a perceptual puzzle. The physical effect (the curve) arises because the ball?s rotation leads to a deflection in the ball?s path. The perceptual puzzle arises because the deflection is actually gradual but is often perceived as an abrupt change in direction (the break). Our illusions suggest that the perceived ?break? may be caused by the transition from the central visual system to the peripheral visual system. Like a curveball, the spinning disks in the illusions appear to abruptly change direction when an observer switches from foveal to peripheral viewing.
