"Missions is very simple. There are only two ministries in missions. You're either called to go down into the well or you're called to hold the rope for those who go down. Either way there should be scars on your hands. You either go as a missionary for the glory of God and the great privilege He's granted you, you go and die on the mission field or you die here holding the rope for those who've gone down. Where are the scars? What has it cost you to be a Christian?"
and with christians not caring to reproduce or share the gospel.. this is not just a warning, i think it is prophetic..
i could go on a huge rant right now, about the importance of sharing the gospel, about the importance of "being fruitful" and multiplying.. or i could just point out that the two are commands given by God, and not just requests.. and expect that any bible believing christians reading this will find it to be enough, without the need to appeal to anything further. and so i will leave it at that.
oh maaaan! the memories! this takes me back to my youth.. i sing this song all the time.. well, actually, only the first two words.. haha, cuz i couldnt remember the rest .. and now i just stumble upon it! so awesome!!
you might have already heard about this, but here are the vids about miss california's (aka Carrie Prejean) "gay marriage" answer controversy.. thanks to joelie for the heads up!
so it seems that you are not allowed to be miss USA if you have any sort of conservative values.. interesting huh? and i would just like to point out the difference in attitudes between the two people involved in this.. by their fruits you shall know them..
also, what in the HAIL kind of place does this question have in a beauty competition?? you are just asking for trouble by asking such a thing in a contest of this nature.. honestly, that guy is an idiot. may God save Him, and may He continue to bless carrie and use her as a solid example of a christian standing up for their beliefs!
david after dentist.. though its actually more like me after my algorithms class.. or as my brother said, me after piano lessons when i was younger..
This is a video of my then 7 year old son David last May. I had my Flip video camera with me. His mom wasnt able to go becasue of work. I taped some of the morning before the surgery to show her and was already planning to tape afterwards. He had just had a tooth removed due to Hyperdontia or extra tooth. This was taken in the parking lot of the dentist office. He was so out of it. The staff was even laughing. This lasted for a few hours and he was fine. He even laughed at the video that night.
My friend Amanda had never seen a whole Star Wars film. When I asked her if she wanted to watch the original trilogy she said that she would, but that she already knew what happens. So I took out my voice recorder and asked her to start from the top.
A 57-year-old Detroit woman avoided serious injury when the underwire on her bra deflected a bullet shot at her from next door, police said.
The woman, who lives on the West side of Detroit, saw a group of men breaking into a neighbor's house on Tuesday morning. When the men spotted her, one of them fired a shot at her, a police spokesman said.
The bullet struck the underwire on the woman's bra and that saved her from a more serious injury, police said.
"It did slow the bullet down," said Detroit police spokesman Phillip Cook. "She sustained injuries but they're not life threatening."
i posted these on some atheist video about hitler, morality, and the holocaust.. their point was to counter those other people who say that morality comes from God.. and so these atheists say that "look! look how immoral these people are.. that shows God doesnt exist!"
for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Romans 3:23
The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that EVERY inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil ALL the time.
Genesis 6:5
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because ALL sinned
Romans 5:12
We ALL, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
Isaiah 53:6a
i just posted the verses like that, no comment, nothing.. the bible tells us that there is no one who can claim any righteousness.. no one, and none whatsoever.. ALL have sinned, ALL have gone astray and man's wickedness is great, and EVERY inclination of the thoughts of man's heart are only evil ALL the time.. honestly, absolute morality comes from God, but we do not follow God's moral code.. not a single one of us. and THAT is why we need Jesus
"Instead of seeking the elect by presenting food for sheep, the preached Word of God which the Holy Spirit uses to convict the elect of their sins, many are seeking the bottom line: numbers. Since numbers have often become the standard by which to judge a ministry's 'success' and, not wanting to offend or drive people away, much of the modern 'church' is no longer preaching the sinfulness of man or the bloody offense of the cross. As a result, the 'church' is offering the wrong kind of food. Instead of food for sheep, much of today's 'preaching and evangelism' is food for... goats, and goats are now everywhere!"
in case you didnt already know, or can find this information useful when sharing with your mormon friends:
he Mormon's Jesus Christ is quite different from Jesus Christ as He is presented in Scripture. This short clip from "The Marks of a Cult" by Eric Holmberg and The Apologetics Group contrasts the differences between the Mormon Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ who is come in the flesh.
and now you know what the "Lord's supper" actually means.. *cough*catholics*cough* none of that transubstantiation baloney.. and why Jesus not only is, but MUST be the jewish messiah..
more news, since im awake and have a list of these ready to post: you know oil is getting a bit too expensive when you get charged
$81,400,836,908 For full Tank Of Gas
Juan Zamora fed his 1994 Chevy Camaro $26 worth of gas, a transaction for which PayPal charged his debit card $81,400,836,908. Unsurprisingly, PayPal saw nothing wrong with the charge and demanded that Juan prove that he didn't actually buy $81.4 billion worth of gas.
and i especially love this part:
"Somebody from a foreign country who spoke in broken English argued with me for 10 to 15 minutes," Zamora said. " ?Did you get the gas?' he asked. Like I had to prove that I didn't pump $81,400,836,908 in gas!"
hahah.. "did you get the gas??" hahah.. um.. yeah, but not $81billion worth!
remember that "banana" argument for the necessity of a designer? well i do.. it was terrible.. except.. well, it was out of context *gasp!!* an atheist taking something out of context to make a point in their favor?? what, NO!!!!! CANT be!!!!
dawkins calls ray comfort the "banana man" and other disparaging slurs, but alas, his own mouth kicks him in the back of the head.. watch for a priceless soundbyte by dawkins, as can only be expected from him
Baines' physician said she only has two complaints.
"Number one, she doesn't like the bacon. It's not crisp enough," the doctor, Charles Witt Jr., told KCAL-TV. "And the other thing is she fusses about her ... arthritis of her knees. She told me that she owes her longevity to the Lord, that she never did drink, she never did smoke and she never did fool around."
Texas government shouldn't be Vista country, according to its state Senate. That legislative body approved earlier this week a rider to the state budget that would prevent governmental agencies from using the Microsoft Vista operating system without approval from a legislative board.
[...]
Speaking in the debate about his rider, Hinojosa said "we are not in any way, shape or form trying to pick on Microsoft, but the problems with the particular system are known nationwide." He added that Microsoft's older but popular operating system still works very well.
[...]
In reply, Microsoft has told news media it was "surprised" that the Texas Senate would agree to a proposal that "singles out a specific corporation and product for unequal treatment." The company also noted it has 1,500 employees in Texas and has opened a major data center in the state.
[...]
The takeaway for some who hear of this action, she said, could be that "they didn't mention Ubuntu, or Novell SUSE, or Mac," causing people to wonder what kind of problems would compel the government of a major state to take action against an operating system.
But it's not only the Texas government that has expressed reluctance about Vista. DiDio said that in a survey by her company, 45 percent of responding businesses indicated that they won't use Vista and will instead wait for Windows 7.
Although a final release of Windows 7 is expected in January or later, Microsoft may be feeling enough heat to move the release date earlier, with Texas only the latest temperature spike. In fact, the company has been dropping hints that there are plans to move up the release to the holiday season.
haha ohhh poopie! its ok, the big govvies arent picking on you.. its just.. well.. youre "special".. hahah..
look at the big monopoly cry foul! incredible, huh? and more incredible, microsoft not just making a release on time, but moving it up?? this is just crazy.. what kind of world are we living in????
by the way, i "linkified" the bible in a year reading schedule.. now you can just click and read.. thanks to azwar for pointing out that its dumb that you cant click on the entries.. hehe... the checkboxes still do nothing, i would have to implement an insaner.com membership or something to make it work.. which i am not going to do any time soon.. though adding forums would be interesting..
ok, an update.. and the reason why i hadnt been posting in the last two weeks.. it seems that our host server was migrated, and with it a few problems arose and i was unable to access my insaner.com from here.. where i live.. my house.. you might not have noticed it there, but i was cut off, and had to resort to all manner of craziness to even be able to check my mail.. but it seems to be working fine now..
then, came my assignment.. im still upset by it all.. its for my graphics course im taking.. its the next course in graphics (of which i took the first 3 years ago.. so guess how much i actually remember.. yeah exactly) and this one deals with opengl shaders (aka glsl) so, its a completely new thing to learn.. and no, we werent taught in class, we were just told "go, learn, do!" the problem is that of the 5 of us in this class, im guessing 4 (yeah, everyone except me) has some experience with this stuff.. yeah.. exactly.. and so i spent the last 5 days with about 10 hours total of sleep (plus going to church and prayer meeting) just to learn enough about this stuff to understand enough to start, and then start.. and then debug all the millions of problems i ran into, until finally the deadline came up, and.. NOTHING WORKED!! *insert all manner of expletives* so, since its electronic submission, i just kept working on it, and as i managed to fix one thing, i submitted again.. i got about an extra 4 hours in or so.. after which i was unable to fix anything more.. and instead began re-breaking everything.. im still super frustrated with this crap.. i cant explain how much. i still dont know why half the stuff didnt work.. even the most basic things, like getting a stupid texture to be applied to an object.. it seriously took me around 20 hours or more to get it to work.. remember, thats 20 hours in the last 5 days.. and it STILL didnt work correctly.. its so stupid.. and then i just now read the project description and i realized that i did it all wrong! gahhhhhH!!!!!!! well not "all" wrong.. but enough to want to hit my head on a hard surface for a long time.. or just.. i dont know.. ugh.. im so frustrated by this all.. sooooooo frustrated.. (can you tell?)
and so, due to this stupid project (and the one before it a few weeks earlier) i spent hours upon hours in front of a stupid monitor without getting up much.. such that, about a half hour before the submission deadline, my eye gave up on me.. and it was my good eye too! (ie, the right one.. the left one cant see well from a distance, and so the right one does all the work.. which is why usually my right eye is a little more bloodshot than the left) yeah, it actually gave up and everything suddenly went quite blurry.. i was pretty freaked out.. i went to see my eye in a mirror and i could see my pupil throbbing.. yeah, THROBBING!! i compared to my left which was just normal.. but the right one kept getting larger and smaller by little jumps.. oh man.. talk about getting freaked out.. and i still hadnt turned in my assignment!! and it still was not finished!! so what could i do? i covered the eye and kept working..
a few hours later i uncovered it and it seemed to be better, though perhaps a bit smaller than before.. yeah.. like as if the volume of the eye had decreased.. but it still worked.. i then eventually went to sleep and missed both classes that day (which wasnt my intention, but i was fully aware that would happen if i went to sleep) and so here i am right now.. (look at the time stamp) and i just checked my eye and it still works.. (i asked two people to pray for my eye as that happened..)
in other news, i honestly feel like i am becoming more and more stupid lately.. i dont know why, but like my brain is just refusing to work properly.. i dont know if its due to lack of sleep or what, but until last week my sleep was doing well.. err, i was doing well in my sleeping habits.. (see what i mean?) i cannot even think to solve pretty easy math problems, or even logic problems.. and in the last year of university, this is NOT something you want happening..
so yeah, i just got spun into a really bad mood.. well, not bad mood, but im kinda sad about all this.. im guessing a little more sleep will help me get over it.. but, is anyone going to volunteer to do all the work i must do? i guess its like holding your breath under water.. you need to breath, but while under water, you just gotta withhold the urge, otherwise itll be much worse.. so, for now ill just hold my breath and do what i gotta do.. hey, 2 more months and thats it.. (unless i fail any of my courses.. ugh.. )
i wish i had a tv.. i would watch it.. i would learn passively, the way i like to learn.. i would be up to date on the news, and not have to read it (which takes forEVER) life would be easier..
anyways.. thats the update for the last few days.. and now i have yet another project to start.. due in a couple more days.. ugh.. anyways, ill have some more posts coming in a bit.. including some really crazy dream i had..
