yaaay! guess who has finally installed red hat linux 9!! yep, i finally got those images to burn correctly, and now i have installed it! yaay! it is just sooo simple to use too! if you are afraid of linux cuz its "soo hard to use" then this is the linux for YOU! its even easier to use than mandrake 8.2! mmm.. and its just sooo pretty! and the fonts are just soo sharp! and.. (i could go on forever..)

wwweeeeeeeeehaaaaaa!!!!!! so, guess who has a working, and very much online computer!!! no really guess! so yeah, i finally managed to install an os (mandrake 8.2, courtesy of bob) and get it online! (i had BeOS installed and running (simplest os install ive ever done in my life!! and fastest by far! took like 10 mins tops for the full thing!) but there were no drivers for my ethernet.. so.. no internet..) and hooooo MAN! its soo sweet!! galeon.. mmmm.. ahhh.. good.. and.. yeah.. so, wooohoo!

first, as root, open up your /etc/fstab file, back it up as /etc/fstab.super and edit out the line that contains

/mnt/floppy (...) supermount (...)

wow.. i cant even imagine what that experience might have been like, im so sorry you had to live through such a thing.. nobody should have to live through something like that.. nobody. not just losing your friend, but in that way.. theres just no expressing it. i lost my grandpa (who i had a great relationship with, and who was the head of the entire family) very suddenly, and it was really hard on me, and i wasnt able to deal with it correctly since a week later i moved away to live basically on my own, in a completely different country where i didnt speak the language or had any friends.. it was very hard. so i can know roughly where your feelings come from. but it saddens me even more that your relationship with God was affected by it. it was very very wrong that they, well, in essence, forced you to get baptized. its such a great event, with such deep meaning that it shouldnt be forced, as it makes it lack this meaning. but im glad you told us all this as it has helped me understand just exactly what you are going through. what happened was a tragedy, not just in the obvious one, but in how it affected your relationship with God. do you think its fair to blame God for what happened? its not fair. its not fair on you, because you lost not one friend, but two, in the process, and your own life. accidents do happen, and as you said, it was your friend that went back for his candy, not a car that went out of its way to hit him.. its like blaming bush for all the people who went missing during saddam's reign because he didnt go in there earlier.. you know? its not fair on yourself to misplace the blame, or even think there is blame to place, think about it, it makes you grieve further! lets face it, there have been people who suffered greater losses, their entire families perhaps.. or that really pretty girl who was burnt alive in a car because some drunk driver hit her, shes still alive, but well.. this is what she looks like now (warning! graphic content, do not click if you are not prepared to see a taste of reality) and yet, they knew better than to let something like that (horrible as it may have been) affect their relationship with Him.. if anything, they used it to strengthen it. why let something that happens here on earth, a temporary place, affect your eternal life?

oh man, you just said something sooo true.. its sad to see this happen, no matter WHAT your denomination is, and lets face it, wherever we go, there is no way to really be free of such hypocrites/hypocrisy. it illustrates two very VERY important points. first point, the fact that believing isnt the same as living. ie, you can "believe" in christ (heck, even satan believes in Him) but that doesnt mean you are living it. just as romans 8:9 says, a christian is someone who has His spirit, NOT someone who "believes" in Him.. right? otherwise, we would all be christians.. even satan and all his demons.. cuz they, too, believe! so.. how can people who so blatantly act against what christ established call themselves christians?? how can a sinner have His spirit, if we know God can't be where there is sin?? so indeed these people are enormous hypocrites.. but that is their problem, that they will have to face upto themselves.. the problem with the existance of such people is, well, they are setting a bad example for others who use that label. so those who dont know about christianity, other than what they see in people who call themselves "christians", will obviously get a bad and erroneous concept of what christianity really is! right? now think of it this way, what is the best tool satan has to bring christianity down? THIS ONE! hey, its the exact same thing hitler did to get his party into office, which, by the way he did "legally" in the sense that he was elected. ok, so, how did he do it? he went and bombed his own party's headquarters and blamed it on the communists! (i think it was the communists..) so, by doing a foul act under the guise of his enemy, he made everyone think it was his enemy that was the reprehensible one, thus gaining power for himself. so, if i walk into a church, begin to label myself as of that denomination, and then commit some barbaric act, does that mean i represent in any way that denomination? no! but of course, i DO understand your position, but you have to know, its not about others, its about yourself. when you are facing God and he asks you why you should be allowed in, there will be noone else there. so it wont matter what anyone else did, just what YOU did. i'll give you another more vivid example. what do you think of muslims? is what you think of muslims in any way influenced by the actions of osama bin laden and his cronies? so you see? i find it hard to believe that they are representative of that entire faith, and hence i do not judge islam for it (or at all). so, in short, i understand what you are going through, it sucks to come to the realization that perhaps where you are standing is not the best place to be, but you have to know that these people should not be the responsible ones for YOUR faith or beliefs, it has to be YOU. and its YOUR relationship with CHRIST that matters, not with them. so my advice is, confront the hypocrites, but use the truth, the bible. let them know that what they are doing is wrong, hey, they might even convert! hah, yeah, they might be singing along and dancing to all those songs of praise, but unless they are with God, its not doing them any good.. there are a LOT of hypocrites in my church, but the pastor is wise enough to call them on it.. and lots have left rather than changed their ways.. so, listen, i have to tell you, i know you are a smart guy (im not really sure what gender you are, its the internet! haha.. and i usually assume according to my own, so i usually say male) because for one, you told me you werent angry at my words.. that shows a LOT of maturity, trust me, not a lot of people have that, and i admire that in you. however, you need to fix your relationship with christ, and realize that thats all that matters, NOT what others are doing, or saying.. or whatever. you know? and, hey, i might not be the wisest person, but i can answer a bunch of the questions you (or anyone else) may have. i would be more than glad to answer them!! the Lord has done soooo much for me, i cant even begin to tell you.. i know how important my relationship with Him is.. and i value it more than anything else in existance.. even moreso than my own life (without Him, i HAVE no life!) so i know how necessary it is for me to spread His word. im not forcing anyone to believe anything, but i AM informing people of the Truth, so they can decide for themselves.. and i have to live with the consequences of such an attitude, being attacked for what i say, people disliking me for my beliefs.. etc.. but dood, its waaaay more than worth it. if everyone could share in what i have received, this would be a waay different world. and thats what i want, but its not something i can or will impose.. on anyone. anyhooze, as always i have ranted on for too long.. tell me what you think.. and really, if there are any questions you want to ask, go ahead, and if i cant answer it myself, i'll go find it and make sure i give you an answer.. :)
